Define the documents and required fields
Choose the types, languages and variations the workflow must handle. Agree which fields matter and how the resulting information will be used. An extraction task should preserve the link to its source so a reviewer can check a value rather than accept an unsupported result.
Treat uncertain values as exceptions
Assess representative examples, including unreadable pages, missing fields and conflicting details. Validation rules and review points determine whether a result can proceed. Feasibility depends on document quality and the agreed task; no universal accuracy or ability to interpret every format should be assumed.
Bring safe examples and expected outputs
Share approved sample documents, the required output and cases that currently need judgement. Explain access restrictions and who checks exceptions. We evaluate the bounded workflow before implementation. Sending extracted information to another system or making decisions from it requires separately agreed connections, permissions and review rules.
