Automation & AI

Route exceptions to the person who can resolve them.

A workflow needs a dependable way to reach a person when it cannot safely continue. VT LAB scopes human handoff around the conditions that require attention, the information a reviewer needs and the team responsible for resolution. Escalation should create accountable work rather than an unattended notification.

01

Decide when automation must pause

Missing information, conflicting records or an action requiring approval can trigger a handoff. Agree the conditions and whether work stops entirely or only the affected step waits. The system should tell users what is pending without implying that a request has been completed or approved.

02

Give the receiving person a usable case

Include the request, relevant evidence, current state and the reason attention is needed. Define the receiving role, assignment rules and what happens if nobody accepts the case. Keep an appropriate history of review and resolution, and agree how the workflow resumes or ends after a person takes over.

03

Bring the cases that need intervention

Share common exceptions, responsible teams and current escalation channels. Explain who may correct information or approve the next step. We scope and verify case routing and recovery; decision support supplies recommendations, while human handoff determines how unresolved work reaches an accountable person.
